These photos were inspired by Picasso's pen light drawings, and are a fun way to pass the time while firing a kiln. During salt/soda firings, bricks are removed from the wall of the kiln and materials are introduced that vaporize and glazes the work. The bricks come out glowing almost white and turn dull red as they cool. The camera was set to a three or four second exposure and the forms were "written" backwards in one shot. No manipulation was done to enhance or change the images. The newest image is a series of overlayed exposures with each letter being its own photo.
